Tupolev R-6
The Tupolev R-6 was a reconnaissance and escort plane built by the Russians around 1929. Designed under the development name ANT-7, several versions of the R-6 nomenclature were derived from this group for different mission capabilities. The name ANT-7 comes from Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev, a Soviet aircraft designer, while the designation R-6 was given by the Soviet Air Force. Derivatives included land and water versions, passenger and cargo, escort fighter, and torpedo carriers. Fuel capacity modifications where among the others type of variants. All military versions were armed with machine guns. The reconnaissance version had a pilot, gunner and observer as crew. The Fighter Factory’s Tupolev R-6 aircraft is currently being restored outside of Moscow, Russia.
