Messerschmitt Me208 AircraftThe Messerschmitt Me208 began production toward the end of the Second World War. Development of the Me208 Liaison/V.I.P., plane was very simple with only a few minor changes from its predecessor the Me108. The new Me208 has a tricycle landing gear as opposed to the tail-dragger design of the Me108. The other main difference is the larger canopy, which was moved farther forward in the Me208.
Since the war was coming to an end, the Messerschmitt Me208 never reached full production like the Me108. The French continued to build the Me208 in the factory at Meautle since it was one of the few factories not destroyed. These airplanes referred to as the Nord 1100, were forced to use Renault engines since the German factories were destroyed. This particular airplane was built in 1946 under contract from the Messerschmitt Aircraft Company. This four-seat liaison airplane has a top speed of 193mph and a range of 753 miles.
